Ada Lovelace, often called the first computer programmer, imagined possibilities far beyond her time. In the 1800s, while working on Charles Babbage’s Analytical Engine, she foresaw that machines could do more than just crunch numbers—they could create, compose, and transform ideas. Her vision laid the groundwork for modern computing and shaped the future of technology.
(Ada Lovelace in a portrait from 1836 by the artist Margaret Carpenter, about a year after her marriage.)
What inspires us most about Ada is her fearless imagination. She blended logic with creativity, mathematics with poetry, and paved a path for women in fields where they were rarely seen or heard.
The Ada gown like its namesake, celebrates boldness and the beauty of possibility.
