Iuliia & Francisco's island wedding
Q&A with Iuliia
The Mary Dress, worn by Iuliia
What was your initial vision or inspiration when you started looking for your wedding outfit, and did it evolve throughout the process?
I was initially inspired by my grandma's wedding dress. It was completely sewed by her mom, my great grandma, had an elegant straight cut, crew neck and long cuffed sleeves. That was definitely the main image of “my” dress in my head. Throughout the searching process I came across The Henrietta dress on Instagram, and that is how I got to know the Vanessa Cocchiaro brand. When I saw The Mary Dress, I thought that’s it! Delicate and elegant look, gathered back, halter neck, absolutely beautiful.
Did you have any sentimental or personal elements incorporated into your wedding outfit, and what made them special to you?
We are both foreigners living in Germany, my husband is Chilean, and I am Russian. Few months prior to the wedding we traveled to Chile, and that is where we went on a “wedding” shopping with my husband’s sisters to find a suit for him. That was indeed special for us, to share this moment with the family. Additionally, I had a veil from my sister-in-law, the one that she used for her wedding 3 years ago. She gave it to me on the same trip, and it was also extremely memorable. On our wedding day, she was my hairdresser, she made lovely curls for me and set her own veil into my hair.
If you could describe your wedding theme in three words, what would they be?
Intimate, family, cozy
How would you describe the overall feeling or atmosphere of your wedding day?
The overall atmosphere was just like in a fairy-tale: we are on a small perfectly hygge island of Denmark Aero, our families made it from our home countries, our friends traveled from different countries to join us, absolute happiness. I call this time not the wedding day, but the wedding week, as we spent time together traveling with our families in Germany and Denmark, celebrating our love.
What was the most memorable part of your wedding ceremony for you and your partner?
The moment we first saw each other, the moment we entered the ceremony room and saw all our guests, and the moment when we were exchanging our vows, these are the most sentimental parts of our wedding day for us.
Did any specific songs or moments during your reception create an especially fun or emotional atmosphere?
My husband’s nephew, who was at that moment 1.5 years old, was our precious ring bearer. He understood his assignment, dropped the ring box, and nevertheless was the cutest!
